Congrats Vaan!... uh I mean...

As my second poll closes, I want to firstly say thank you to all who have voted and visited the site :D
This time we have 2 times more people voting! Thats a major improvement! Good to see! Hope it will just get better and better :D

We have a winner!!! for being the least liked main character in the Final Fantasy series....
Is that a good thing? or bad thing?!?! well.. Here it is!

Ok I have to admit. This failed paint-job is pretty disturbing.. but as we can see, VAAN from FINAL FANTASY XII won in all his glory, 3 time more vote than all other characters that got voted and a whopping 50% of all votes went to Vaan. He should be happy! At least he was a character that everyone remembered because he... was useless in the game, so congrats Vaan! Majority of the people don't like you! (I myself don't particular like or care about him too XD)

I'm surprised that there are people who voted the retro Cloud and Zack as their least favourtie character. Good to see that not everybody is all Final Fantasy VII XD

Next poll will be coming up shortly! Hope to see you on here often!

New Poll! - Which main character do you hate the most?!?!

Muahahaha. A negative poll this time, Which Main character do you have the most in the Final Fantasies mentioned in the poll?!

Could it be that you hate Cloud's anti-socialness?

Could it be Squall's self centred views?

Could it be Vaan's meaningless to the game?

Could it be Lightning because she uses a more high-tech Gunblade than Squall?!

Could it be Terra because she ended up destroying the insane villain Kefka?! Who could it be... It's up to you to decide!

Poll will close on the 16 of September

Final Fantasy X is the winner! WOOHOO

My first poll, and in all it's glory, Final Fantasy X's ending won! (by a mere 1 vote over FFVII) I have to totally agree with you, it was the most memorable, most well presented, and of all, the saddest ending so far in my honest opinion. The music was unforgettable as well. The ending theme consisting of the melancholy tune of To Zanarkand and Hymn of the Faith, and Suteki Da Ne when the credits rolled were priceless.
The few words that was said in the ending was so powerful, it brought tears to my eyes, and I knew from that moment I would not forget about it. It was just an amazing ending, It deserves to win!

note:
Major SPOILER warning on the video. Don't watch it if you are playing FFX or want to complete it yourself.

More awesome announcements from Square!

Ok, two posts in one day. I just got excited! We all know that Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is going to be released tomorrow here in New Zealand, and that alone makes me super duper happy! but... Square Enix, Tetsuya Nomura Has just announced the next DISSIDIA GAME!!!

It will be called Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy. From the shonen jump preview, it will definately have Lightning from FFXIII and Kain from FFIV. As a Dissidia Final Fantasy fan, I cannot wait to play it and kick some ass! (thats if I ever find someone to fight with in New Zealand... lol)

It will be released in 2011 in Japan, but the release dates for other regions are unknown at this time.

Building a computer for FFXIV... Pricey..

As the release day of Final Fantasy XIV gets closer and closer... The excitement rises and I really can't wait to play! (I'm refraining myself from playing the Open Beta... so I don't get any sort of spoilers!) However, the real problem is... I don't have a powerful enough computer to run it! My laptop, which is 3 years old, won't be able to run it. It's only got 4 gig ram, 32bit Vista and a 8600 NVIDIA graphics card, and less than 5 gigs on my harddrive... I guess it can run it at low resolution, but the laptop will probably overheat...

So here is the plan! Build a new desktop and hook it up to my HD TV and play it in Hi-Def! Muahahahaha. Thats if I can get the funds to get myself a new comp...
I'm comsidering getting these parts:
  • Intel Core i7 930 2.8GHz quad core
  • 6 Gig DDR3 ram (3x 2 gig)
  • 500 gig Harddrive (Only using it for general FFXIV, and I have plenty of portable HDDs)
  • Sapphire Radeon HD5970 2gig Graphics Card
  • Window's 7 Home Premium 64-bit
  • Possibly a Blu-Ray Writer but probably just a DVD/CD RW
  • And a case to put all these goodies in and a mouse and keyboard.
That will cost me about.... $2700 NZD... Which I don't have at the moment lol. AHHH I can dream... But I really do hope I win the lotto or something and then I can build myself an ultimate FFXIV comp >.>

Ohhh on the contrary, September is a good month! Not only FFXIV is coming out, but Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is coming out, and I have pre-ordered the Special Edition that should arrive tomorrow! That and uni should keep me busy until I build myself a nice computer for FFXIV! Hopefully...

My Final Fantasy Timeline - Continued

Continued from my previous post

After I have completed Final Fantasy VIII, I wanted more. When I had the chance, I went to the shops and asked if there were other Final Fantasies available, they said they had VII and IX, also X was about to be released on the PlayStation 2. I was sooo excited that I wanted to get them all. But as a poor kid back then, I couldn't afford games, and I didn't own a PS for myself, and the PS2 was way too expensive at that time, I think it was around the $1200 mark. I went home a little down but excited that there are plenty of Final Fantasies out there available for me to play and explore!
However it kinda stopped here. I had to return the PS and the games, and I didn't have any ways of playing Final Fantasy. Even though I couldn't play it, I still thought about it, the unforgettable scenes of Final Fantasy VIII... Squall rescuing Rinoa in space... The flash backs in Trabia Garden... The amazing ending... the music... everything. I just couldn't stop myself from thinking about what other Final Fantasies will bring me, the endless possibilities and thoughts.

and time went on... and on... and on.....

It's now 2003 and Final Fantasy X has been out for almost a year. I finally got a hold of a PS2, and FFX, both which were borrowed as well. I started playing and instantly, it became my favourite game. I loved the characters, I loved the music, To me, an even better story line than VIII and I loved everything about the game. Literally everything. I could not believe that a game, that people play to enjoy would have such an emotional impact on me. I couldn't believe that I would shed tears over a game. FFX was more than a game. It was a journey, it was better than movies, better than TV series, it reigned above all games. It was simply the best.

At the year of 2004, I finally own a PS2 for myself. I was able to get copies of Final Fantasy VII to X and played through them. I enjoyed every single one of them and Final Fantasy became an addiction, a good addiction. As time passes, my love for Final Fantasy didn't thin out, but grew stronger, and I know I will love it forever! It's Final Fantasy!

Summary:
1995ish: Played FFIII but didn't really know it was the 'Final Fantasy' lol
2001: Played and understood my first real Final Fantasy, FFVIII.
2003: Played FFX and it became my favourite story and game of all time.
2004: Bought myself a PS2 and finished VII and X-2.
2005: Replayed VIII and X, also started playing XI as Tacco on the Titan server.
2006: Finished XII and IX. Also got my hands on a PSP
2007: Finished Crisis Core in Japanese and finished FFII anniversary edition.
2008: Stopped playing FFXI, Bought a PS3.
2009: Owning up in Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Finished Dirge of Cerberus.
2010: Finished XIII in Japanese, Getting platinum trophy late January. Playing through VI
Today: Waiting for more FF games especially Agito, Versus, and XIV!

Thats my general FF life in a nutshell!
I have played other Square games like Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean and Valkyria Profile but this I will talk about them in another post since this is FF only!

My Final Fantasy Timeline - Where it all begins...

Hmmmm lets see... I think I was 4 or 5 when I first got in contact with a game... I personally don't remember, but when I was browsing through my old photo album I saw a little me holding an ancient GameBoy (I'm not so sure about posting that photo up... lol). It was one of those bulky grey ones that required 4 AA batteries and... somewhat heavy but unbreakable GameBoy. Pretty early I have to say.

The first game I played probably was Tetris... or... PacMan... I honestly can't remember. Either way, I remember having one of those pirated cartridges with 20 games or something, and it had Final Fantasy I to IV on it. That time I had no idea what it was, I played through Final Fantasy III and since it was in Japanese, I did not understand a thing, but I think I managed to finish the game without understanding anything. However, I did remember enjoying the game but I did not know that it was a 'Final Fantasy' like... the totally awesome addictive Final Fantasy lol, if that made any sense. :P

Anyhow, about in the year 2001, when I was 11 this is where it all truly begins... I was able to get a hold of a PlayStation and a few games which I borrowed from someone. Among those games, there was Final Fantasy VIII. It caught my attention. It was sticking out like a lake in a desert! And before I knew it, I opened the case, and put the first disk into the PS. As the opening sequence rolled, my jaws literally dropped to the ground as Seifer and Squall fight it on the screen. It was the most beautiful game I've ever seen! I couldn't believe games evolved into something so... beautiful and realistic! (since the only sort of gaming I've had up till this point was the GameBoy and SNES) I couldn't wait to start the game, just to look at how beautiful it is! But thats not it! As i progress through the game, I found myself in love with the storyline, battle system, music... everything, and I could not stop playing. It took me about.... uhhh I think almost two weeks to complete the game (it would have taken me less if I didn't have school or had to fight for the TV >.>) and as the 'fin' rested on the screen, I was satisfied, in love and can't get enough of it.

to be continued...
